As she was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.”


You will drink from the brook. I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.”


The word of YHWH came to him, saying,


He looked, and there by his head was a cake baked on the coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank, and lay down again.


The captives of this army of the children of Israel, who are among the Canaanites, will possess even to Zarephath; and the captives of Jerusalem, who are in Sepharad, will possess the cities of the Negev.


Yet Elijah wasn’t sent to any of them, but only to a widow in Zarephath, in the land of Sidon.


But we have this treasure in jars of clay, so that the extraordinary power is from God and not from us.


YHWH said to Gideon, “The people who are with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand, or Israel would boast against me, saying, ‘My own hand has delivered me.’


YHWH said to Gideon, “There are still too many people. Bring them down to the water, and I will test them for you there. Those whom I tell you, ‘This one should go with you,’ he must go with you. And whoever I tell you, ‘This one should not go with you,’ he must not go.”
