YHWH raised up an adversary to Solomon: Hadad the Edomite. He was one of the king’s offspring in Edom.


(but he will have one tribe, for my servant David’s sake and for Jerusalem’s sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel),


I will afflict the offspring of David for this, but not forever.’”


But as for the children of Israel who lived in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.


So Israel rebelled against David’s house to this day.


When all Israel heard that Jeroboam had returned, they sent and called him to the congregation, and made him king over all Israel. There was no one who followed David’s house, except for the tribe of Judah only.


May your eyes may be open toward this house night and day, even toward the place of which you have said, ‘My Name will be there,’ so that you may hear the prayer that your servant prays toward this place.


But YHWH was gracious to them, and had compassion on them, and favored them because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them and he didn’t cast them from his presence as yet.


Therefore YHWH was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight. There was none left but the tribe of Judah only.


‘For I will defend this city to save it, for my own sake and for my servant David’s sake.’”


He built altars in the house of YHWH, of which YHWH said, “I will put my name in Jerusalem.”


YHWH said, “I will also remove Judah out of my sight, as I have removed Israel; and I will cast off this city which I have chosen, even Jerusalem, and the house of which I said, ‘My name will be there.’”


However, YHWH would not destroy Judah, for David his servant’s sake, as he promised him to give to him a lamp for his children always.


However YHWH would not destroy David’s house, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a lamp to him and to his children always.


YHWH, remember David and all his affliction,


I will make the horn of David to bud there. I have ordained a lamp for my anointed.


Lord, where is your former lovingkindnesses, which you swore to David in your faithfulness?


What will they answer the messengers of the nation? That YHWH has founded Zion, and in her the afflicted of his people will take refuge.


For Zion’s sake I will not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until her righteousness shines out like the dawn, and her salvation like a burning lamp.


Y’all must give him no rest until ʜᴇ establishes, and makes Jerusalem the praise of the earth.


Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on David’s throne, and on his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from that time on, even forever. The zeal of YHWH Almighty will perform this.


then YHWH y’all’s God will choose a place for ʜɪꜱ name to dwell. Y’all are to bring all that I command y’all: y’all’s burnt offerings, sacrifices, tithes, the contribution of y’all’s hand, and all y’all’s choice offerings that y’all vow to YHWH.


But y’all are to seek the place which YHWH y’all’s God will choose from among all y’all’s tribes, to put his name there as ʜɪꜱ habitation. To that place, y’all are to go.


Not because of your righteousness or because of the uprightness of your heart will you go in to possess their land. Instead it is because of the wickedness of these nations that YHWH your God drive them out from before you, and so that ʜᴇ might establish the word which YHWH swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
