and saying: alas alas, that great city, that was clothed in raynes, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stone, and pearls:


for true and righteous are his judgements, for he hath judged the great whore which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants of her hand.


¶ The xij gates were xij pearls, every gate was of one pearl, and the street of the city was pure gold, as thorow shining glass.


Also they repented not of their murder, and of their sorcery neither of their fornication neither of their theft.
