The people answered him: We have heard of the law that Christ bideth ever: and how sayest thou then that the son of man must be lifted up? who is that son of man?


¶ Dear children, yet a little while am I with you. Ye shall seek me, and as I said unto the jewes whither I go, thither can ye not come. Also to you say I now.


¶ Nicodemus said unto him: how can a man be born, when he is old? can he enter into his mother's body and be born again?


And Nicodemus answered and said unto him: how can these things be?


¶ The jewes murmured at it, because he said: I am that bread which is come down from heaven.


¶ The jewes strove among themselves saying: How can this fellow give us his flesh to eat?


Many of his disciples, when they had heard this, said: this is an hard saying. Who can abide the hearing of it?


Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: And where I am, thither can ye not come.


Then said Iesus again unto them: I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins. Whither I go thither can ye not come.


For the natural man perceiveth not the things of the spirit of god: For they are but foolishness unto him. Neither can he perceive them because he is spiritually examined:
