Jesus knowing it, said to them, Why trouble ye the woman?


And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say to him, The Master saith, My time is at hand: I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples.


While he spake these things to them, behold a certain ruler coming worshiped him, saying, My daughter is even now dying: but come and lay thine hand on her, and she shall live.


And as he was going out into the way, one running and kneeling to him, asked him, Good Master, what shall I do, that I may inherit eternal life?


And there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name, and seeing him, falleth at his feet.


While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the master.


Then said Martha to Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.


Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life; he that believeth in me, tho' he die, yet shall he live;


Having said this, she went and privately called Mary her sister, saying, The master is come, and calleth for thee.


When Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell at his feet, saying to him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.


Jesus saith, Take away the stone. Martha, the sister of the deceased, saith to him, Lord, by this time he stinketh; for he hath been buried four days.


Verily, verily I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and they that hear shall live.
