Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.


But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away, for she crieth after us.


Then the Parisees and Saducees came and tempting, desired him to shew them a sign from heaven.


And the Pharisees came to him, tempting him and saying, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?


But Jesus knowing their wickedness, said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?


And one of them, a scribe, asked him a question,


But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answering said to him, I adjure thee by the living God, to tell us, if thou art the Christ, the Son of God?


And the Pharisees coming asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife?


Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he knowing their hypocrisy, said to them, Why tempt ye me? Bring me a penny, that I may see it.


And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath, that they might accuse him.


And the Pharisees came forth and questioned with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.


And behold, a certain scribe stood up, and trying him, said, Master, what shall I do, to inherit eternal life?


And others tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven.


And early in the morning he returned to the temple, and all the people came to him, and sitting down he taught them.


Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents.
