And leaving them, he went out of the city to Bethany and lodged there.


And when they were come nigh to Jerusalem to Bethphage and Bethany,


Thus he spake, and after that he saith to them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go to awake him.


(Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off.)


And many of the Jews were come to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.


saying, Lord, behold he whom thou lovest is sick.


And the people who were with him, when he called Lazarus out of the tomb, and raised him from the dead, bare witness.


Now much people of the Jews knew that he was there, and came not only for the sake of Jesus, but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.


And in those days she was sick and died; whom having washed, they laid in an upper chamber.
