It is enough for the disciple that he be as his teacher, and the servant as his lord.


Happy are ye when men shall revile and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake.


Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.


marvelled, and glorified God, who had given such power to men.


for he hath visited and redeemed his people,


And shall dash thee against the ground, and thy children, that are in thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another: because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.


Happy are ye when men shall hate you, and shall separate you from their company, and shall revile you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.


Jesus saith, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified by him.


Simon hath declared, how God at first visited the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.


Nor can they prove the things whereof they now accuse me. But this I confess unto thee,


And when he was come, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem, stood round about him, bringing many and heavy accusations against Paul, which they were not able to prove:


But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest; for concerning this sect, we know, that it is every where spoken against.


Mind not high, but condescend to low things. Be not wise in your own conceit. Render to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.


Let us walk decently, as in the day; not in banqueting and drunken entertainments, not in uncleannesses and wantonness, not in strife and envy.


And he that in these serveth Christ, is acceptable to God, and approved by men.


And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy, as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name.


The secrets of his heart are made manifest, and so falling down on his face, he will worship God, and declare that God is among you of a truth.


For this is our rejoicing, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with carnal wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more especially toward you.


Now I pray God, that ye may do no evil: not that we may appear approved, but that ye may do that which is good, though we should be as reprobates.


For we provide things honest, not only before the Lord, but also before men.


in the desires of the flesh, doing the will of the flesh and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the others.


concerning your former conversation, the old man, which is corrupt, according to the deceitful desires:


Only let your behaviour be worthy the gospel of Christ, that whether I come and see you, or be absent, I may hear concerning you, that ye stand fast, in one spirit, with one soul striving together for the faith of the gospel,


Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report: if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things:


That ye may walk decently toward them that are without, and may want nothing.


For kings and all that are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.


Let no one despise thy youth; but be a pattern to them that believe, in word, in behaviour, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.


having been the wife of one husband, Well reported of for good works, if she hath brought up children, if she hath lodged strangers, if she hath washed the feet of the saints, if she hath relieved the afflicted, if she hath diligently followed every good work.


Pray for us; for we trust we have a good conscience, desiring to behave ourselves well in all things.


Let your disposition be without covetousness: be content with the things that are present; for he hath said , No, I will not leave thee: verily I will not forsake thee.


Who is a wise and knowing man among you? Let him shew by a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.


For so is the will of God, that by well-doing ye put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: As free,


Having a good conscience, that whereas they speak against you as evil doers, they may be ashamed who falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.


If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God: if any man minister, let him minister as of the ability which God giveth, that God in all things may be glorified thro' Jesus Christ, whose is the glory and the might for ever and ever. Amen.


Seeing then all these things are dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
