He said: “Blessed be Adonai, the God of Israel, who spoke with His mouth to my father David, and has fulfilled it by His hand, saying:


Now Adonai has fulfilled His word that He spoke, for I have risen in the place of my father David and sit on the throne of Israel, as Adonai promised. Also I have built the House for the Name of Adonai, the God of Israel,


“You have kept what You promised with Your servant David my father. Yes, You spoke with Your mouth and fulfilled it with Your hand, as it is this day.


Not to us, Adonai, not to us, but to Your Name be the glory— because of Your love and Your faithfulness.


Hear the sound of my pleas, when I cry to You for help, when I lift up my hands toward Your holy Sanctuary.


You destroy those who speak falsehood. A person of bloodshed and deceit Adonai detests.


But because of your great lovingkindness, I will enter Your House. I will bow toward Your holy Temple, in awe of You.


Then my enemies will turn back in the day I call. This I know—that God is for me.


In a day when I am afraid, I will put my trust in You.


Surely His salvation is near those who fear Him, so that glory may dwell in our land.


But You, my Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, full of love and truth.


Exalt Adonai our God and worship at His footstool: holy is He.


Exalt Adonai our God, and worship at His holy hill, for holy is Adonai our God.


Adonai was pleased, for the sake of His righteousness, to make Torah great and glorious.


I will remember the lovingkindnesses of Adonai, the praises of Adonai, according to all that Adonai has granted us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which He has granted them according to His compassion, and according to the abundance of His lovingkindnesses.


Thereupon King Darius issued the written decree.


Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away.
