So they ate and drank before Adonai on that day with great joy. Then they designated Solomon the son of David as king a second time, anointing him before Adonai as ruler and Zadok as kohen.


So he said to them, “Go! Eat choice food, drink sweet drinks, and send portions to those who have nothing ready. For today is kadosh to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of Adonai is your strength.”


Then the Levites quieted all the people, saying, “Hush! For today is kadosh. Do not grieve.”


On the second day, the heads of the families along with the kohanim and the Levites gathered around Ezra to ponder the words of the Torah.


as the days when the Jews got relief from their enemies, and as the month when their sorrow was turned into joy and their mourning into celebration. These were to be days of feasting, celebration and sending presents of food to one another and giving gifts to the poor.


I have not departed from the commands of His lips. I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my daily bread.


Your testimonies I have as a heritage forever, for they are my heart’s joy.


Therefore I love Your mitzvot more than gold, more than pure gold.


The unfolding of Your words gives light, giving understanding to the simple.


I rejoice in the way of Your testimonies above all wealth.


I will delight in Your decrees. I will never forget Your word.


My lips utter praise, for You teach me Your statutes.


I long for Your deliverance, Adonai, and Your Torah is my delight.


The Torah from Your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces.


O how I love Your Torah! It is my meditation all day.


Your words were found, so I ate them. Your words were a delight to me and the joy of my heart. For I am called by Your Name, Adonai-Elohei-Tzva’ot.


They said to one another, “Didn’t our heart burn within us while He was speaking with us on the road, while He was explaining the Scriptures to us?”


For I know that nothing good dwells in me—that is, in my flesh. For to will is present in me, but to do the good is not.


Those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them. They will celebrate and send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth.
