Now during the feast, the governor was accustomed to release to the crowd one prisoner, anyone they wanted.


So when they were gathered together, Pilate said to them, “Which one do you want me to release for you? Yeshua who is Bar-Abba, or Yeshua who is called Messiah?”


Now a man named Bar-Abba had been in jail with the rebels who had committed murder during the rebellion.


And He released the one they were asking for, the one thrown in jail for insurrection and murder. But he handed over Yeshua to their will.


They shouted back, “Not this One, but Bar-Abba!” Now Bar-Abba was a revolutionary.


But you rejected the Holy and Righteous One and asked for a murderer to be granted to you.


Though they know God’s righteous decree—that those who practice such things deserve death—they not only do them but also approve of others who practice the same.
