John 8:22

Our soul has had enough of the scorn of those at ease, the contempt of the proud.

They cried to you and were delivered. In You they trusted, and were not disappointed.

Adonai, let me not be ashamed, for I have called upon You. Let the wicked be ashamed— let them be silent in Sheol.

This is John’s testimony, when the Judean leaders sent kohanim and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?”

Many of them were saying, “He has a demon. He’s insane! Why listen to Him?”

The crowd answered, “You have a demon! Who’s trying to kill you?”

The Judean leaders then said among themselves, “Where is this person about to go that we shall not find Him? He’s not going to the Diaspora to teach the Greeks, is He?

The Judean leaders responded, “Aren’t we right to say you are a Samaritan and have a demon?”

“Now we know You have a demon!” the Judean leaders said to Him. “Abraham and the prophets died. Yet You say, ‘If anyone keeps My word, he will never taste death.’

Consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you may not grow weary in your souls and lose heart.

So let us go to Him outside the camp, bearing His disgrace.
