I will say to God, ‘Do not condemn me; tell me why You contend with me.’


How many are my iniquities and sins? Show me my transgressions and sin.


Look, I waited for your words, I listened to your reasoning; while you were searching for words


“But now, Job, listen to my words and give ear to everything I say.


Teach me what I cannot see. If I have done evil, I will not do it again.’


Behold, we have investigated this— it is true. Hear it, and apply it to yourself!”


or ‘Save me from the enemy’s hand’ or ‘Redeem me from a ruthless hand’?


Honest words are painful, but what does your arguing prove?


Moreover by them Your servant is warned. In keeping them there is great reward.


“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go. I will give counsel—My eye is on you.


Like a gold earring or a gold ornament is a wise reproof to a receptive ear.


Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still. Teach a righteous man and he will increase in learning.


Know this, my dear brothers and sisters: let every person be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger—


For we all stumble in many ways. If someone does not stumble in speech, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well.
