“After everything that has happened to us because of our evil deeds and our great guilt—for You, our God, have punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and given us a remnant such as this—


For He knows deceitful men; when He sees wickedness, does he not consider it?


and show you the secrets of wisdom— for sound wisdom has two sides. Know that God has forgotten some of your iniquity.


he contends with God on behalf of man as one pleads for a friend.


There the upright can reason with Him, and there I would forever be delivered from my Judge.


He shatters the mighty without inquiry, and sets others in their place.


If anyone wished to contend with Him, he could not answer Him once in a thousand.


Righteous are You, Adonai, and Your judgments are upright.


A bruised reed He will not break. A smoldering wick He will not snuff out. He will faithfully bring forth justice.


Thus says Adonai: “What fault did your fathers find in Me that they strayed so far from Me? They walked after worthless things, becoming worthless themselves?


But who in the world are you, O man, who talks back to God? Will what is formed say to the one who formed it, “Why did you make me like this?”
