Then Adonai said: “Just as My servant Isaiah has walked naked and barefoot for three years, as a sign and a wonder against Egypt and Ethiopia,


For just as the waistband clings to a man’s waist, so I will make the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah cling to Me,” declares Adonai, “to be to Me a people, a name, a praise and a glory. But they would not obey.”


“Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words.”


Thus said Adonai: “Go, buy a potter’s clay jar, take some elders of the people, some elders of the kohanim,


thus says Adonai to me—“Make straps and yoke-bars, and put them on your neck.


“Take some large stones in your hand and hide them in the mortar in the brickwork at the entrance of Pharaoh’s palace in Tahpanhes, in the sight of the men of Judah.


He came to us, took Paul’s belt, tied his own hands and feet, and said, “The Ruach ha-Kodesh says this: ‘In this way shall the Jewish people in Jerusalem bind the man who owns this belt and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’”


At many times and in many ways, God spoke long ago to the fathers through the prophets.
