I will be a father to him, and he will be a son to Me. If he commits iniquity, I will correct him with the rod of men and with the strokes from sons of men.


His father had not scolded him at any time by asking: “Why have you behaved this way?” He was also a very handsome man; and he was born after Absalom.


He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent with discipline.


Discipline your son while there is hope. Do not set your heart on his death.


Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child, but a rod of discipline will drive it far from him.


A rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself disgraces his mother.


Correct your son and he will give you rest. He will bring delight to your soul.


They were strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to persevere in faith, and saying, “It is through many persecutions that we must enter the kingdom of God.”


But when we are judged, we are being disciplined by the Lord so that we might not be condemned along with the world.


Now you know in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so Adonai your God disciplines you.


Why do you kick at My sacrifice and My offering which I have commanded in My dwelling, and honor your sons above Me, by fattening yourselves with the choicest of every offering of Israel My people?


Now this will be the sign to you that will come on your two sons—Hophni and Phinehas—on the same day both of them will die.


For I have told him that I am about to judge his house forever for the iniquity that he knew about, because his sons brought a curse on themselves yet he did not rebuke them.
