Esther had not yet made known her lineage or her people, just as Mordecai had told her. Esther continued to follow Mordecai’s instructions as she had done when he was bringing her up.


Hathach went back and reported to Esther what Mordecai had said.


For how can I endure seeing the disaster that will fall on my people? How can I bear to see the destruction of my relatives?”


Even if I were right, I would not answer; I would implore the mercy of my Judge.
