Surely your lifeblood will I avenge. From every animal and from every person will I avenge it. From every person’s brother will I avenge that person’s life.


The one who sheds human blood, by a human will his blood be shed, for in God’s image He made humanity.


A man tormented by the guilt of murder flees to the Pit—let no one support him.


the assembly must judge between the manslayer and the avenger of blood according to these regulations.


Then the elders of his hometown should send and take him from there and hand him over to the avenger of blood, to die.


‘Cursed is the one who strikes down his neighbor in secret.’ Then all the people are to say, ‘Amen.’


Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer—and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.
