¹ NOW THERE was a certain man among the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler (a leader, an authority) among the Jews,

Pilate then called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,

Nicodemus also, who earlier had come to Jesus[4] by night, came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds[5] in weight.

Jesus answered him, "Are you the teacher of Israel and yet you do not understand these things?

And here he is, speaking openly, and they say nothing to him! Can it be that the authorities really know that this is the Christ?
