Dibon has gone up to the temple, to the high places to weep; over Nebo and over Medeba Moab wails. On every head is baldness, every beard is shorn;


Therefore I weep with the weeping of Jazer for the vines of Sibmah; I drench you with my tears, O Heshbon and Elealeh; for the shout over your fruit harvest and your grain harvest has ceased.


In that day the Lord God of hosts called to weeping and mourning, to baldness and putting on sackcloth;


Therefore I said: Look away from me, let me weep bitter tears; do not try to comfort me for the destruction of my beloved people.


Instead of perfume there will be a stench; and instead of a sash, a rope; and instead of well-set hair, baldness; and instead of a rich robe, a binding of sackcloth; instead of beauty, shame.


Both great and small shall die in this land; they shall not be buried, and no one shall lament for them; there shall be no gashing, no shaving of the head for them.


Baldness has come upon Gaza, Ashkelon is silenced. O remnant of their power! How long will you gash yourselves?


For every head is shaved and every beard cut off; on all the hands there are gashes, and on the loins sackcloth.


Mortal, King Nebuchadrezzar of Babylon made his army labor hard against Tyre; every head was made bald and every shoulder was rubbed bare; yet neither he nor his army got anything from Tyre to pay for the labor that he had expended against it.


They shall put on sackcloth, horror shall cover them. Shame shall be on all faces, baldness on all their heads.
