Now I am about to build a temple for the Name of the Lord my God and to dedicate it to him for burning fragrant incense before him, for setting out the consecrated bread regularly, and for making burnt offerings every morning and evening and on the Sabbaths, at the New Moons and at the appointed festivals of the Lord our God. This is a lasting ordinance for Israel.


And the Levites – Jeshua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah and Pethahiah – said: ‘Stand up and praise the Lord your God, who is from everlasting to everlasting.’ ‘Blessed be your glorious name, and may it be exalted above all blessing and praise.


Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no-one can fathom.


Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness.


I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies.


Great is the Lord, and most worthy of praise, in the city of our God, his holy mountain.


Say to God, ‘How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies cringe before you.


Come and see what God has done, his awesome deeds for mankind!


It is you alone who are to be feared. Who can stand before you when you are angry?


For you are great and do marvellous deeds; you alone are God.


In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared; he is more awesome than all who surround him.


For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods.


Now I know that the Lord is greater than all other gods, for he did this to those who had treated Israel arrogantly.’


Should you not fear me?’ declares the Lord. ‘Should you not tremble in my presence? I made the sand a boundary for the sea, an everlasting barrier it cannot cross. The waves may roll, but they cannot prevail; they may roar, but they cannot cross it.


The king said to Daniel, ‘Surely your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, for you were able to reveal this mystery.’


But I will show you whom you should fear: fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.


Who will not fear you, Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.’


We’re doomed! Who will deliver us from the hand of these mighty gods? They are the gods who struck the Egyptians with all kinds of plagues in the wilderness.
