So the Levites appointed Heman son of Joel; from his relatives, Asaph son of Berekiah; and from their relatives the Merarites, Ethan son of Kushaiah;


David left Asaph and his associates before the ark of the covenant of the Lord to minister there regularly, according to each day’s requirements.


That day David first appointed Asaph and his associates to give praise to the Lord in this manner:


and Heman’s associate Asaph, who served at his right hand: Asaph son of Berekiah, the son of Shimea,


King Hezekiah and his officials ordered the Levites to praise the Lord with the words of David and of Asaph the seer. So they sang praises with gladness and bowed down and worshipped.


‘I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.’


The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god.


Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Saviour and my God.


The Mighty One, God, the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to where it sets.


Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.


Surely you place them on slippery ground; you cast them down to ruin.


O God, do not remain silent; do not turn a deaf ear, do not stand aloof, O God.


For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favour and honour; no good thing does he withhold from those whose way of life is blameless.


Jerusalem, wash the evil from your heart and be saved. How long will you harbour wicked thoughts?


Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.


‘Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.


When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, ‘Here truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit.’


Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring – not only to those who are of the law but also to those who have the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.


he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,


Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
