He says to himself, ‘God will never notice; he covers his face and never sees.’


Why does the wicked man revile God? Why does he say to himself, ‘He won’t call me to account’?


His talk is smooth as butter, yet war is in his heart; his words are more soothing than oil, yet they are drawn swords.


I am in the midst of lions; I am forced to dwell among ravenous beasts – men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords.


They say, ‘How would God know? Does the Most High know anything?’


They pour out arrogant words; all the evildoers are full of boasting.


The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.


The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly.


The heart of the righteous weighs its answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil.


‘Have you not noticed that these people are saying, “The Lord has rejected the two kingdoms he chose”? So they despise my people and no longer regard them as a nation.


what my enemies whisper and mutter against me all day long.


You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
