And as if this were not enough in your sight, Sovereign Lord, you have also spoken about the future of the house of your servant – and this decree, Sovereign Lord, is for a mere human!


And if you walk in obedience to me and keep my decrees and commands as David your father did, I will give you a long life.’


Now you have been pleased to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue for ever in your sight; for you, Lord, have blessed it, and it will be blessed for ever.’


The Lord says to my lord: ‘Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.’


It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life for evermore.


But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.


May he be enthroned in God’s presence for ever; appoint your love and faithfulness to protect him.


My salvation and my honour depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.


You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honour.


Splendour and majesty are before him; strength and glory are in his sanctuary.


Who is this coming from Edom, from Bozrah, with his garments stained crimson? Who is this, robed in splendour, striding forward in the greatness of his strength? ‘It is I, proclaiming victory, mighty to save.’


Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.


After Jesus said this, he looked towards heaven and prayed: ‘Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.


I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one –


And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.


Now the main point of what we are saying is this: we do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven,


who has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand – with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.
