Blessed are those who act justly, who always do what is right.


Surely the righteous will never be shaken; they will be remembered for ever.


I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.


Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.


My anger will be aroused, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives will become widows and your children fatherless.


‘If you lend money to one of my people among you who is needy, do not treat it like a business deal; charge no interest.


The righteous will never be uprooted, but the wicked will not remain in the land.


No-one can be established through wickedness, but the righteous cannot be uprooted.


The greedy bring ruin to their households, but the one who hates bribes will live.


Those who walk righteously and speak what is right, who reject gain from extortion and keep their hands from accepting bribes, who stop their ears against plots of murder and shut their eyes against contemplating evil –


He withholds his hand from ill-treating the poor and takes no interest or profit from them. He keeps my laws and follows my decrees. He will not die for his father’s sin; he will surely live.


But if a wicked person turns away from the wickedness they have committed and does what is just and right, they will save their life.


He does not lend to them at interest or take a profit from them. He withholds his hand from doing wrong and judges fairly between two parties.


In you are people who accept bribes to shed blood; you take interest and make a profit from the poor. You extort unjust gain from your neighbours. And you have forgotten me, declares the Sovereign Lord.


Both hands are skilled in doing evil; the ruler demands gifts, the judge accepts bribes, the powerful dictate what they desire – they all conspire together.


and asked, ‘What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?’ So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver.


Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.


Do not pervert justice or show partiality. Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the innocent.


If you make a vow to the Lord your God, do not be slow to pay it, for the Lord your God will certainly demand it of you and you will be guilty of sin.


Here I stand. Testify against me in the presence of the Lord and his anointed. Whose ox have I taken? Whose donkey have I taken? Whom have I cheated? Whom have I oppressed? From whose hand have I accepted a bribe to make me shut my eyes? If I have done any of these things, I will make it right.’
