Praise be to his glorious name for ever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and Amen.


My tent is destroyed; all its ropes are snapped. My children are gone from me and are no more; no-one is left now to pitch my tent or to set up my shelter.


‘I will display my glory among the nations, and all the nations will see the punishment I inflict and the hand I lay on them.


You sold the people of Judah and Jerusalem to the Greeks, that you might send them far from their homeland.


They trample on the heads of the poor as on the dust of the ground and deny justice to the oppressed. Father and son use the same girl and so profane my holy name.


They covet fields and seize them, and houses, and take them. They defraud people of their homes, they rob them of their inheritance.


For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.


For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.


Now let my lord the king listen to his servant’s words. If the Lord has incited you against me, then may he accept an offering. If, however, people have done it, may they be cursed before the Lord! They have driven me today from my share in the Lord’s inheritance and have said, “Go, serve other gods.”
