Now the whole clan has risen up against your servant; they say, “Hand over the one who struck his brother down, so that we may put him to death for the life of his brother whom he killed; then we will get rid of the heir as well.” They would put out the only burning coal I have left, leaving my husband neither name nor descendant on the face of the earth.’


Now then, let me advise you how you can save your own life and the life of your son Solomon.


When the harvest time approached, he sent his servants to the tenants to collect his fruit.


Last of all, he sent his son to them. “They will respect my son,” he said.


So they took him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.


‘But when the tenants saw him, they talked the matter over. “This is the heir,” they said. “Let’s kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.”


but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.
