When one of them comes to see me, he speaks falsely, while his heart gathers slander; then he goes out and spreads it around.


Woe to those who plan iniquity, to those who plot evil on their beds! At morning’s light they carry it out because it is in their power to do it.


But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them.


Jesus answered, ‘It is written: “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”’


Nothing outside a person can defile them by going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles them.’


For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come – sexual immorality, theft, murder,


All these evils come from inside and defile a person.’


This man, however, did not trace his descent from Levi, yet he collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises.


The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.


What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you?
