Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.


he said, ‘Go away. The girl is not dead but asleep.’ But they laughed at him.


When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly.


But they laughed at him. After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was.


Paul went down, threw himself on the young man and put his arms round him. ‘Don’t be alarmed,’ he said. ‘He’s alive!’


That is why many among you are weak and ill, and a number of you have fallen asleep.


He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.
