‘I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.’


Surely your wrath against mankind brings you praise, and the survivors of your wrath are restrained.


In the Lord’s hand the king’s heart is a stream of water that he channels towards all who please him.


But this is not what he intends, this is not what he has in mind; his purpose is to destroy, to put an end to many nations.


I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, “My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.”


Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.


and asked, ‘Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.’


Above his head they placed the written charge against him: this is jesus, the king of the jews.


‘Are you the king of the Jews?’ asked Pilate. ‘You have said so,’ Jesus replied.


They crucified two rebels with him, one on his right and one on his left.


Let this Messiah, this king of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe.’ Those crucified with him also heaped insults on him.


However, the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam but turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loves you.
