And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.’


Let death take my enemies by surprise; let them go down alive to the realm of the dead, for evil finds lodging among them.


Just as there were many who were appalled at him – his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any human being and his form marred beyond human likeness –


‘Seventy “sevens” are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place.


After the sixty-two “sevens”, the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: war will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed.


‘Awake, sword, against my shepherd, against the man who is close to me!’ declares the Lord Almighty. ‘Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered, and I will turn my hand against the little ones.


But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?’


But this has all taken place that the writings of the prophets might be fulfilled.’ Then all the disciples deserted him and fled.


‘It is one of the Twelve,’ he replied, ‘one who dips bread into the bowl with me.


While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, ‘Take it; this is my body.’


Every day I was with you, teaching in the temple courts, and you did not arrest me. But the Scriptures must be fulfilled.’


The Son of Man will go as it has been decreed. But woe to that man who betrays him!’


He said to them, ‘This is what I told you while I was still with you: everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.’


Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, ‘I am thirsty.’


to take over this apostolic ministry, which Judas left to go where he belongs.’


This man was handed over to you by God’s deliberate plan and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross.


Indeed Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed.
