He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.


In my thirtieth year, in the fourth month on the fifth day, while I was among the exiles by the River Kebar, the heavens were opened and I saw visions of God.


‘Awake, sword, against my shepherd, against the man who is close to me!’ declares the Lord Almighty. ‘Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered, and I will turn my hand against the little ones.


‘When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne.


The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.’


As soon as Jesus was baptised, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him.


Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.


Jesus replied, ‘Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.’


But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.’ So he said to the paralysed man, ‘Get up, take your mat and go home.’


Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove.


‘I am,’ said Jesus. ‘And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.’


Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,


An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.


An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him.


But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God.’


While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them.


When all the people were being baptised, Jesus was baptised too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened


Jesus said, ‘You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig-tree. You will see greater things than that.’


‘Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheepfold by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber.


Therefore Jesus said again, ‘Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep.


Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.


Then Jesus answered, ‘Will you really lay down your life for me? Very truly I tell you, before the cock crows, you will disown me three times!


Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.


Very truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.


In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.


Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.’


Jesus replied, ‘Very truly I tell you, no-one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.’


Jesus answered, ‘Very truly I tell you, no-one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.


Jesus gave them this answer: ‘Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.


And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man.


Jesus answered, ‘Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill.


Jesus said to them, ‘Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven.


Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life.


Jesus said to them, ‘Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.


Jesus replied, ‘Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.


Very truly I tell you, whoever obeys my word will never see death.’


‘Very truly I tell you,’ Jesus answered, ‘before Abraham was born, I am!’


He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners.


‘Look,’ he said, ‘I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.’


and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels.


They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might


Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great: He appeared in the flesh, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.


Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?


Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about them: ‘See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones


I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war.


After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, ‘Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.’
