Then they said to each other, ‘What we’re doing is not right. This is a day of good news and we are keeping it to ourselves. If we wait until daylight, punishment will overtake us. Let’s go at once and report this to the royal palace.’


The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed, saying,


You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.


I have found David my servant; with my sacred oil I have anointed him.


The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him – the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord –
