‘You are my witnesses,’ declares the Lord, ‘and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me.


‘This is what the Lord says – Israel’s King and Redeemer, the Lord Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God.


Do not tremble, do not be afraid. Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago? You are my witnesses. Is there any God besides me? No, there is no other Rock; I know not one.’


so that from the rising of the sun to the place of its setting people may know there is none besides me. I am the Lord, and there is no other.


Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.


But the Lord replied, ‘Is it right for you to be angry?’


But God said to Jonah, ‘Is it right for you to be angry about the plant?’ ‘It is,’ he said. ‘And I’m so angry I wish I were dead.’


The Lord will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one Lord, and his name the only name.


‘What do you want with us, Son of God?’ they shouted. ‘Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?’


‘What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are – the Holy One of God!’


‘The most important one,’ answered Jesus, ‘is this: “Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one.


He shouted at the top of his voice, ‘What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In God’s name don’t torture me!’


And he continued, ‘You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions!


‘Go away! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are – the Holy One of God!’


Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.


She followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, ‘These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved.’

A mediator, however, implies more than one party; but God is one.

If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, ‘Love your neighbour as yourself,’ you are doing right.


For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a licence for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.


And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling – these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day.


And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulphur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
