The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.


The Lord smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: ‘Never again will I curse the ground because of humans, even though every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done.


When I please, I will punish them; nations will be gathered against them to put them in bonds for their double sin.


The high places of wickedness will be destroyed – it is the sin of Israel. Thorns and thistles will grow up and cover their altars. Then they will say to the mountains, ‘Cover us!’ and to the hills, ‘Fall on us!’


‘Sound the trumpet in Gibeah, the horn in Ramah. Raise the battle cry in Beth Aven; lead on, Benjamin.


They have sunk deep into corruption, as in the days of Gibeah. God will remember their wickedness and punish them for their sins.


During the night the men of Gibeah came after me and surrounded the house, intending to kill me. They raped my concubine, and she died.
