Then Solomon awoke – and he realised it had been a dream. He returned to Jerusalem, stood before the ark of the Lord’s covenant and sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. Then he gave a feast for all his court.


For God does speak – now one way, now another – though no-one perceives it.


When he passes me, I cannot see him; when he goes by, I cannot perceive him.


Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?


You, God, are awesome in your sanctuary; the God of Israel gives power and strength to his people. Praise be to God!


Who among the gods is like you, Lord? Who is like you – majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?


When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, ‘Moses! Moses!’ And Moses said, ‘Here I am.’


‘Do not come any closer,’ God said. ‘Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.’


The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread.


At this I awoke and looked around. My sleep had been pleasant to me.


he said, ‘Listen to my words: ‘When there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, reveal myself to them in visions, I speak to them in dreams.


Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, ‘Are you for us or for our enemies?’


The commander of the Lord’s army replied, ‘Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy.’ And Joshua did so.
