The Israelites journeyed from Rameses to Sukkoth. There were about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides women and children.


At the end of the 430 years, to the very day, all the Lord’s divisions left Egypt.


And on that very day the Lord brought the Israelites out of Egypt by their divisions.


Then Moses said to the people, ‘Commemorate this day, the day you came out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery, because the Lord brought you out of it with a mighty hand. Eat nothing containing yeast.


‘Therefore, say to the Israelites: “I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment.


who sent his glorious arm of power to be at Moses’ right hand, who divided the waters before them, to gain for himself everlasting renown,


You brought your people Israel out of Egypt with signs and wonders, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm and with great terror.


who did all those signs and wonders the Lord sent him to do in Egypt – to Pharaoh and to all his officials and to his whole land.


For no-one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.


Has any god ever tried to take for himself one nation out of another nation, by testings, by signs and wonders, by war, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, or by great and awesome deeds, like all the things the Lord your God did for you in Egypt before your very eyes?


Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the Lord your God brought you out of there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the Lord your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day.
