In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.


In the Lord’s hand the king’s heart is a stream of water that he channels towards all who please him.


The Lord put a word in Balaam’s mouth and said, ‘Go back to Balak and give him this word.’


When Balaam looked out and saw Israel encamped tribe by tribe, the Spirit of God came on him


Many will say to me on that day, “Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?”


He did not say this on his own, but as high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the Jewish nation,


If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.


When he and his servant arrived at Gibeah, a procession of prophets met him; the Spirit of God came powerfully upon him, and he joined in their prophesying.


A man who lived there answered, ‘And who is their father?’ So it became a saying: ‘Is Saul also among the prophets?’


The Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person.


The next day an evil spirit from God came forcefully on Saul. He was prophesying in his house, while David was playing the lyre, as he usually did. Saul had a spear in his hand


When David had fled and made his escape, he went to Samuel at Ramah and told him all that Saul had done to him. Then he and Samuel went to Naioth and stayed there.


so he sent men to capture him. But when they saw a group of prophets prophesying, with Samuel standing there as their leader, the Spirit of God came on Saul’s men, and they also prophesied.


Finally, he himself left for Ramah and went to the great cistern at Seku. And he asked, ‘Where are Samuel and David?’ ‘Over in Naioth at Ramah,’ they said.
