Jeremiah 38:6 - Modern King James Version

6 And they took Jeremiah and threw him into the pit of Malchiah the son of Hammelech, which was in the court of the prison. And they let Jeremiah down with ropes. And there was no water in the pit, only mud. So Jeremiah sank into the mud.

And they took him and threw him into a pit. And the pit was empty, with no water in it.


And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.


He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet on a rock, and gave sureness to my steps.


I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing; I have come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.


For then the king of Babylon's army besieged Jerusalem. And Jeremiah the prophet was shut in the court of the guard, which was in the king of Judah's house.


And the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to seize Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet. But Jehovah hid them.


When Jeremiah had entered into the house of the pit, and into the cells, then Jeremiah remained there many days.


And Zedekiah the king commanded that they should put Jeremiah into the court of the prison, and that they should give him a piece of bread out of the bakers' street daily, until all the bread in the city was gone. So Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.


So they drew up Jeremiah with ropes and took him up out of the pit. And Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.


And, behold, all the women who are left in the king of Judah's house shall be brought out to the king of Babylon's rulers, and they shall say, Your friends have urged you on, and have prevailed against you. Your feet have sunk in the mire, and they have turned away.


Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions' den. The king answered and said to Daniel, Your God, whom you always serve, will deliver you.


You also, by the blood of Your covenant I have freed Your prisoners out of the pit in which is no water.


who, having received such a command, thrust them into the inner prison and made their feet fast in the stocks.


For you have need of patience, so that after you have done the will of God you might receive the promise.
