And they took Joseph's tunic, and killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the tunic in the blood.


And all his sons, and all his daughters, rose up to comfort him. But he refused to be comforted. And he said, For I will go down into the grave to my son mourning. And his father wept for him.


And they came to Jacob their father, to the land of Canaan, and told him all that happened to them, saying,


And Jacob their father said to them, You have bereaved me. Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and you will take Benjamin. All these things are against me.


And he said, My son shall not go down with you. For his brother is dead, and he is left alone. And if mischief should happen to him by the way you go, then you shall bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.


And the one went out from me, and I said, Surely he is torn in pieces. And I never saw him since.


And they went up out of Egypt, and came to the land of Canaan, to Jacob their father.


And Israel said to Joseph, I had not thought I would see your face, and, lo, God has showed me also your seed.


I smiled kindly on them when they did not believe; and they did not make the light of my face fall.


If I had called and He had answered me, yet would I not believe that He had listened to my voice;


He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all he owned,
