And Toi king of Hamath heard that David had struck all the army of Hadadezer.


In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria. And he placed them in Halah, and in Habor by the river Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.


Is not Calno like Carchemish? Is not Hamath like Arpad? Is not Samaria like Damascus?


Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah?


Concerning Damascus: Hamath and Arpad are put to shame, for they have heard bad news. They are melted; anxiety is in the sea; it cannot be quiet.


Pass to Calneh, and see; and from there go to Hamath the great. Then go down to Gath of the Philistines. Are they better than these kingdoms, or their border greater than your border?


So they went up and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin to Rehob, as men come to Hamath.
