But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, As soon as you hear the sound of the ram's horn, then you shall say, Absalom reigns in Hebron!


And it happened after this, David inquired of Jehovah, saying, Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah? And Jehovah said to him, Go up! And David said, Where shall I go? And He said, To Hebron.


And the men of Judah came, and they anointed David king over the house of Judah there. And they told David, saying, The men of Jabesh-gilead buried Saul.


And Saul's son heard that Abner was dead in Hebron. And his hands were feeble, and all the Israelites were troubled.


And they went up by the south and came to Hebron, where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the sons of Anak were. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)


And he gave a part among the sons of Judah to Caleb the son of Jephunneh, according to the command of Jehovah to Joshua, even the city of Arba the father of Anak; it is Hebron.


And they gave them the city of Arba, the father of Anak (it is Hebron) in the hills of Judah, with its open lands around it.


Please go, make more sure, and know and see the place where his foot is. Who has seen him there? For I am told that he is very subtle.
