Son of man, set your face toward the south, preach against the south, and prophesy against the forest land in the Negev.


Of the oaks of Bashan they have made your oars; with ivory they have inlaid your deck of boxwood out of the coastlands of Cyprus.


They also went down into Sheol with it to those who were slain with the sword. And those who were its power lived under its shadow in the midst of the nations.


Woe to those who are at ease in Zion, and to those confident on the mount of Samaria, nobles of the first of the nations, to whom the house of Israel comes!


Open your doors, O Lebanon, so the fire can consume your cedar.


There is the sound of wailing shepherds, because their glory is ruined. There is the sound of roaring lions, because the pride of Jordan is ruined.


For if men do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?”
