Then Jesus said to him, “Get away from here, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.’ ”


“So is he who stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”


And many other things they blasphemously spoke against Him.


“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed;


He lifted up His eyes on His disciples, and said: “Blessed are you poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.


“I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have distress. But be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.”


strengthening the minds of the disciples and exhorting them to continue in the faith, to go through many afflictions and thus enter the kingdom of God.


I punished them often in every synagogue and compelled them to blaspheme. And being extremely enraged against them, I persecuted them even to foreign cities.


rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer,


Indeed you are called a Jew, and rest on the law, and make your boast in God.


Not only so, but we also boast in tribulation, knowing that tribulation produces patience,


Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?


It is not as though the word of God has failed. For they are not all Israel who are descended from Israel,


as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; and as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.


how in a great trial of affliction, the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty overflowed toward the riches of their generous giving.


For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that through His poverty you might be rich.


Indeed, we told you before when we were with you that we would suffer tribulation, just as it came to pass, as you well know.


I was previously a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and an insolent man. But I was shown mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.


Command that they do good, that they be rich in good works, generous, willing to share,

I know your works and where you live, where Satan’s throne is. Yet you hold firmly to My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days of Antipas, My faithful martyr, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.


I know your works, your labor and your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles, but are not, and have found them to be liars.


“Now to you I say, and to the rest in Thyatira, as many as do not have this teaching, who have not known what some call the ‘depths of Satan,’ I will put on you no other burden.


Behold, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie. Behold, I will make them come and worship before your feet and to know that I have loved you.


I said to him, “Sir, you know.” He said to me, “These are those who came out of great persecution and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
