He said to them, “You will indeed drink from My cup and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with. But to sit at My right hand and at My left is not Mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it is prepared by My Father.”


They said to Him, “We can.” Jesus said to them, “You will indeed drink the cup that I drink and be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized.


“I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have distress. But be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.”


In those days Peter stood up among the disciples (the number of people together was about one hundred and twenty), and said,


strengthening the minds of the disciples and exhorting them to continue in the faith, to go through many afflictions and thus enter the kingdom of God.


and if children, then heirs: heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified with Him.


But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.


Our hope for you is steadfast, knowing that as you share in the sufferings, so also you will share in the consolation.


It is right for me to think this of you all because I have you in my heart, since both in my imprisonments and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are fellow partakers of my grace.


Nevertheless you did well having shared in my affliction.


May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.


So do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me, His prisoner. But share in the sufferings of the gospel by the power of God,


For you need patience, so that after you have done the will of God, you will receive the promise.


I exhort the elders who are among you, as one who is also an elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ as well as a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:


The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to Him to show to His servants things which must soon take place. He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John,


who bears record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.


John, To the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is to come and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne,


and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.


When they have finished their testimony, the beast that ascends from the bottomless pit will wage war against them and overcome them and kill them.


They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives unto the death.


Then the dragon was angry with the woman, and he went to wage war with the remnant of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.


“He who is to be taken captive, into captivity he shall go; he who kills with the sword, with the sword he must be killed.” Here is a call for the patience and the faith of the saints.


Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.


I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you not do that. I am your fellow servant, and of your brothers who hold the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For it is the spirit of prophecy that bears witness to Jesus.”


I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and the authority to judge was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness of Jesus and for the word of God. They had not worshipped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for one thousand years.


Because you have kept My word of patience, I also will keep you from the hour of temptation which shall come upon the entire world, to test those who dwell on the earth.


When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony they had held.


I said to him, “Sir, you know.” He said to me, “These are those who came out of great persecution and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
