So the Lord sent a plague upon Israel from the morning until the appointed time. Seventy thousand men from the people died, from Dan to Beer-sheba.


“When there is famine in the land, if there is plague, blight, mildew, locust, or grasshopper; if their enemy besieges them in the land of their cities; whatever plague, whatever sickness there is;


Our soul has escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped.


Keep me from the snares which they have laid for me, and from the traps of those who work iniquity.


But God will wound the heads of His enemies, the hairy head of him who walks in his guilty ways.


nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that strikes at noonday.


Deliver yourself like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, and like a bird from the hand of the fowler.


until an arrow pierces his liver; as a bird darting into the snare, he did not know that it would cost him his life.


For no one knows his appointed time. Like fish caught in a cruel net, like birds caught in a snare, so people are ensnared in an evil time, when it suddenly falls on them.


The watchman of Ephraim is a prophet for my God; yet a fowler’s snare is on all his ways, and hatred in the house of his God.


Does a bird fall into a trap on the ground, if there was no snare for it? Does a trap spring up from the ground, if it has not caught something?


But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare and into many foolish and harmful lusts, which drown men in ruin and destruction.


and they may escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.
