But for your own lifeblood I will surely require a reckoning; from every animal will I require it; of man, too, will I require a reckoning for human life, of every man for that of his fellow man.


and also for the innocent blood that he had shed, for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and the Lord was not willing to pardon.


You have seen it, for You observe trouble and grief, to repay it with Your hand. The helpless commits himself to You; You are the helper of the orphan.


The desire of the humble You have heard, O  Lord; You make their heart attentive; You bend Your ear


He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and will not despise their prayer.


For the Lord has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His dwelling place:


For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; nor has He hidden His face from him; but heard when he cried to Him.


This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.


The chariots of God are twenty thousand, thousands upon thousands; the Lord is among them as at Sinai, in the holy place.


Remember Your congregation, which You have purchased of old, which you have redeemed to be the tribe of Your inheritance, and this Mount Zion, where You have dwelt.


There He broke the flaming arrows of the bow, the shield, the sword, and the weapons of war.    Selah


The Lord said, “I have surely seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry on account of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.


And now behold, the cry of the Israelites has come to Me. Moreover, I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians are oppressing them.


For behold, the Lord comes out of His place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity; the earth also shall disclose her bloodshed and shall cover her slain no more.


Behold, I and the children whom the Lord has given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the Lord of Hosts who dwells in Mount Zion.


that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.


For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and You have given them blood to drink. It is what they deserve!”


They removed the foreign gods from among them and worshipped the Lord, and He could no longer endure the suffering of Israel.
