He subdued peoples under us, and nations under our feet.


Oh, that you had listened to My commandments! Then your peace would have been as a river and your righteousness as the waves of the sea.


From Ashdod I will cut off the one enthroned and from Ashkelon the one who holds the scepter. I will turn My hand against Ekron, and the remnant of the Philistines will perish, says the Lord God.


“Awake, O sword, against My shepherd and the man of My association,” says the Lord of Hosts. Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will scatter. I will turn My hand against the small ones.


Then the Amalekites and the Canaanites who dwelt on that mountain went down and defeated them, pursuing them as far as Hormah.


Only do not rebel against the Lord, nor fear the people of the land because they are bread for us. Their defense is gone from them, and the Lord is with us. Do not fear them.”


Now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul,


know for certain that the Lord your God will no longer drive out these nations from before you. But they shall be snares and traps to you, a whip on your sides and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from off this good ground that the Lord your God has given you.
