what wise men have told, not hiding anything received from their fathers,


that I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all Your wondrous works.


that I may recount all Your praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion, that I may rejoice in Your salvation.


And when your children shall say to you, ‘What does this service mean to you?’


“It shall be when your son asks you in time to come, saying, ‘What is this?’ that you shall say to him, ‘With a strong hand the Lord brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage.


You shall declare to your son on that day, saying, ‘This is done because of that which the Lord did for me when I came forth out of Egypt.’


It is the living who give thanks to You, as I do this day; a father explains to his sons about Your faithfulness.


Tell it to your children, and let your children tell their children, and let their children tell another generation.


You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.


Only give heed to yourself and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things which your eyes have seen and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life, but teach them to your sons, and your grandsons.
