David said to Solomon, “My son, I had it in my heart to build a house for the name of the Lord my God,


He whose foot is unsteady is despised in the thoughts of him who is at ease.


“As for me, is my complaint against man? And if it were so, why should not my spirit be troubled?


For You have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, and my feet from stumbling.


As for me, I shall behold Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.


Keep my steps in Your paths, that my footsteps may not slip.


But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth; I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer would return to my own heart.


For I said, “Hear me, lest they rejoice over me, lest, when my foot slips, they exalt themselves against me.”


But as for me, in the abundance of Your mercy I will enter Your house; in fear of You I will worship at Your holy temple.


If I should say, “My foot has slipped,” Your mercy, O  Lord, will hold me up.


I was almost in utter ruin in the midst of the assembly and congregation.”


If it is displeasing to you to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve, if it should be the gods your fathers served beyond the River or the gods of the Amorites’ land where you are now living. Yet as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”


Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you. But I will teach you the good and the right way.


He will guard the feet of His saints, but the wicked will be silent in darkness. “For by strength shall no man prevail.
